On January 11, 2024, a historic step was taken in Tiruppur to bridge the gap between ancient Tamil literature and modern ecological restoration. The Sangam Literature Botanical Garden was officially initiated as a collaborative green project by Vetry and the Tiruppur City Corporation.

This visionary effort is rooted in Sangam-era literary wisdom, which documents over 150 native trees, herbs, shrubs, and climbers. Carefully identified from classical texts like Tolkappiyam, Akananuru, Purananuru, Thirukkural, and Pattinappaalai, these species are now being cultivated and preserved within an urban green space.

Community Participation for Climate Action

With the support of Tiruppur City Corporation and driven by the Vetry , this movement is built on citizen engagement, environmental education, and active participation. The planting of saplings is more than a symbolic act it is a declaration that urban development and nature conservation can co-exist. Local residents are invited to take part in nurturing these green spaces. As the trees grow, so does the connection between the people, the land, and their cultural roots.
