Once a vital water source in Tiruppur, Andipalayam Lake had slipped into neglect—choked by silt, damaged bunds, and water inaccessibility. The consequences were clear: a lowered groundwater table, lost biodiversity, and a critical blow to local irrigation.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Vetry stepped in to initiate the lake’s rejuvenation.
What followed was a large-scale, community-driven initiative—led by Vetry and powered by the people.
In 2013, the rejuvenation process began with volunteers, social organizations, industries, and the public coming together in an extraordinary show of unity. With the unwavering support of the Public Works Department (PWD), Tamil Nadu and the Tiruppur Municipal Corporation (TMC), the transformation of Andipalayam Lake became a shared mission.
The rejuvenation of Andipalayam Lake has produced measurable and lasting outcomes:
But the true impact goes even further. The lake’s revival has recharged the local ecosystem—supporting birdlife, restoring biodiversity, and nurturing a healthier microclimate. It has also become a local example of how environmental restoration can be inclusive, efficient, and deeply rooted in community participation.
In collaboration with the Public Works Department, Tiruppur District Administration, and Tiruppur Corporation, Vetry continues its mission to enhance water resources across the region—reviving abandoned lakes, repairing check dams, and building sustainable water infrastructure.
The rejuvenation of Andipalayam Lake is more than just a restored water body.
It’s a movement.
A movement to rebuild, restore, and reimagine the future—one drop at a time.
